초록 | This paper analyses the process of conceptualization and development of the organization during the 19th century. During the 19th century, organization was one of the key concepts distinguish living bodies from the non-living objects. During the end of 18th century and the early 19th century, the organization had been mainly explicated through the phylogenetic context. Appearing Haeckel's account of recapitulation theory and with the development of the cell theory, biologists became pay attention to the ontogenic development, and the concept of organization also focused on the individual organic development. Then, from the late 19th century, Weismann and De Vries suggested Biophore and Pangen which were tinctured with vitalistic character, the focus of biologists moved from the organization to the genetic material. Recently, biologists recognized that the structure of the genetic material itself would not be able to be accounted for the phenomena of life; and the analyses of the concept of the 19th century organization may cast a fresh light on the post-genomic biology. |
