| 초록 | This article aims to examine the change of Hsiang-shu-hsueh 象數學 after introduction of Western science in the late Joseon 朝鮮 period. For this purpose, I divide some remarkable texts on Hsiang-shu-hsueh produced by Confucians of late Joseon period, such as Jang Hyeon’kwang 張顯光(1554-1637), Jeong Jedu 鄭齊斗(1649-1736), Kim Seong’mun 金錫文(1658-1735) and Seo Myeong’ung 徐命膺(1716-1787), into two groups via end of 17th century, and examine how method that astronomy knowledge are described in Hsiang-shu-hsueh writings changed according to time. Through such analysis, I will argue that Korean Confucians began to achieve work of interpretation on the astronomical knowledge in terms of Hsiang-shu-hsueh for the first time in the end of 17th century, and that such change was caused as Western science transmitted into Joseon dynasty since 17th century. |
